Design, build, and the details in between.

I help people and small organisations turn a clear idea into a website that works on real devices, not just in a desktop preview.

01 / Design

Website design

The starting point is not a colour palette. It is the question of what a visitor needs to understand and do. I shape the page around that, then make it feel considered.

This is a good fit for a new site, a rebuild, or a page that has grown confusing over time.

  • Content structure and page hierarchy
  • Mobile-first layout and typography
  • Accessible colour and contrast
  • Simple, reusable page patterns
  • Design that can be built without a heavy framework

02 / Build

Front-end development

I write the HTML and CSS that make the design real. The code is kept small, readable, and easy to maintain, with no unnecessary dependencies.

The result should work in a modern browser and remain usable on older or limited devices.

  • Semantic HTML with clear landmarks
  • Responsive CSS with sensible fallbacks
  • No client-side JavaScript unless it is essential
  • Compressed, local assets
  • Clean links, metadata, and sitemap

03 / Performance

Speed & accessibility

A light page is not a compromise. It is often the clearest version of the design. I look for the things that slow a page down or make it harder to use, then remove or replace them.

This can be a focused review or part of a larger build.

  • Page-weight and request review
  • Image and asset compression
  • Readable type, contrast, and focus states
  • Keyboard-friendly navigation
  • Testing at small screen sizes and slow speeds

04 / Search

Technical SEO

Search engines need a clean path through the site. I check the foundation: crawlable links, sensible URLs, useful titles and descriptions, and markup that describes the content.

I do not sell guaranteed rankings. I build the technical conditions that give good content a fair chance.

  • Title and meta description review
  • Canonical URLs and redirects
  • XML sitemap and robots.txt
  • Internal linking and page structure
  • Basic structured data where it helps

Fit

Who this is for.

Clear scope and direct communication matter more than a long list of services.

GOOD FIT

Small, purposeful sites

Portfolios, independent publications, service pages, and small organisations that need a clear presence without a heavy stack.

GOOD FIT

Rebuilds and clean-ups

Existing sites that are slow, hard to update, or carrying years of unnecessary scripts and styles.

LESS GOOD

Large custom platforms

Complex dashboards, real-time applications, and projects that need a full product team are outside my focus.

LESS GOOD

Growth-at-any-cost tactics

I do not build fake urgency, hidden subscriptions, or tracking-heavy funnels designed to confuse people.
